“When I became the first woman in my team to take on a leadership role at the new company we acquired (along with continuing my CFO role at the group), I thought the decision was only related to me. How I would manage my time between both roles, whether I was capable enough to take on the challenge, what kind of team I wanted to build etc.
But it was much more! I was actually breaking the quiet doubts that others had about whether women belonged there at all. And I like to think I made it a little easier for the next woman leader who rose.”
- A senior leader in the pharma sector was quoting her experience at the 1000 Women Leader’s masterclass. I could completely echo the sentiment and was reminded of my own experience a while back where I was almost about to give up my board seat!
Many times we think our success is just about ourselves. But most times, it’s about much more. In this case, that woman’s steps made it that much easier for the NEXT woman who wanted to step up.
That’s why women breaking biases matter. Because every time they do, they show others what’s possible. And they remind all of us that progress is rarely handed over—it’s carved out, one bold step at a time.
At the 1000 Women Leaders Programs, we help women build the skills, mindset, and networks to take those bold steps—and pave the way for those who come next.
